Oh how I wish!

Oh how I wish!

Oh how I wish!

..says almost every kitchen in Northwest Greensboro right now - if it hasn't already been renovated. Do you remember the "Tuscan Kitchen" era? It was the early 2000s when Henson Forest, Polo Farms and Lake Jeanette were booming with new construction. Everyone had grapes and ivy draped across their kitchen cabinets. Backsplashes were tumbled travertine and dark cabinets were heavily adorned with decorative appliqués. Design trends have changed dramatically to a much more minimalist look. Dark, intricate architecture is now being replaced with clean lines and colors.

In this kitchen project, we were able to save most of the cabinets by refacing and refinishing them. The results were incredible and I’m so happy to say that we saved our savvy clients nearly 40k on this remarkable transformation!

Reworked Fridge Wall with new Pantry Cabinets, Doors and Mouldings

I must say, I was a bit confused when our clients, recently relocated from Europe, asked us to replace their traditional mouldings with square blocks. The Crown and Light Rail were customized to align clean and straight across the face of the new beveled shaker doors. The result was so much better than I imagined it would be.

After a complete reface with new doors, crown, light rail, countertops, backsplash and hardware. What a transformation!

Before the transformation

In addition to the complete refacing job, we added a waterfall to the peninsula, blocked out the spindle type legs at the cooktop and refinished the island top with a more modern color and a highly durable, waterproof sealant.

Of all the amazing changes that took place in this kitchen, I must say that the island is my favorite part. The Brazilian Pine top was completely stripped and treated with a custom purple stain to fight back the inherent yellow tones. The paint color is Cheating Heart by Benjamin Moore.

The original island was simply hideous by comparison. I mean, how many levels of bleh can you fit into one kitchen island. But hey, I remember when this look was all the rage!

I wonder if it’ll ever come back around… hmmm?
